How we made postpartum care better in 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on all the ways we’ve helped shape postpartum care. We’ve expanded our global reach and shared resources that make postpartum care a little easier for everyone. We’ve cheered on our students as they do incredible work. It’s been a year full of heart and effort; we feel very lucky to be part of such a caring community. We’re thankful to all of you for making it possible.

We now have students in nearly 60 countries

Way back in 2015, we got proper online software and made the course fully accessible, rather than just teaching it locally in person. At that time, we had online students in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Norway, and a few different states in the USA.  Being in five countries back then was quite a good start, considering that online learning was still in its infancy.

But look how far we’ve come! We’re over the moon that so many women around the world now have access to high-quality support that blends scientific evidence with traditional cultural care. Each marker below represents a city where we have at least one student. There may be a few cities missing from the map, as we don’t have the location for all our students, so the real reach is even wider than what’s shown.

We were endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives for Professional Development

The Postpartum Education and Care Professional training was once again endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) as a Continuing Professional Development option. This year marks nearly a decade of ACM endorsement, underscoring the lasting quality, reliability, and professional recognition of our training. We are very proud of this achievement, as ACM’s endorsement criteria have become more rigorous over the years. It took us a couple of goes to ensure our references were all correctly cited in the required format, but we did it! Many midwives and midwifery students invest in our training, and it’s fantastic that they can count these hours towards their professional development requirements.

We interviewed 13 innovators who are transforming postpartum care

Our graduates come from wonderfully diverse backgrounds: massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, speech pathology, lactation support, midwifery research, and more! We loved learning about their accomplishments over the past year. One of our graduates provides long-term support for mothers; another re-imagined baby showers as “nesting parties” for mums; another created a multi-disciplinary hub for mothers to access holistic care. Their stories are a powerful reminder that meaningful change is a community effort. Together, supporting one mum at a time, we can change postpartum experiences worldwide.

And on that note…

We celebrated 100 podcast episodes

This year, we reached the milestone of 100 episodes of the Newborn Mothers podcast! We’ve loved sharing inspiring stories, expert insights, and practical tips with postpartum professionals around the world and look forward to sharing more in 2026. Subscribe to the Newborn Mothers podcast >>

We created printable postpartum recipe cards

Many doulas tell us they love having something tangible to share with mums. This inspired us to develop a collection of printable recipe cards, adapted from Julia’s recipe book Nourishing Newborn Mothers. Each card includes simple tips to help mums get the support they need, along with a variety of warming, delicious recipes. We’ve simplified the dishes and removed hard-to-source ingredients to make them even more accessible. The collection is being provided to our graduates and current students, with the possibility of releasing it to the wider public in the future.

We made our learning platform easier to use

We upgraded our platform software to make the student forum and live call calendar easier to navigate. This makes it easier for our students to find the support and resources they need, so they can focus on what matters most (caring for families).

Looking ahead

We have some exciting projects and new initiatives in the works that we can’t reveal just yet, but they’re all designed to help normalise postpartum care and make high-quality support accessible to even more families. We can’t wait to continue supporting Newborn Mothers, their families, and the professionals who care for them around the world. Check out Postpartum Education and Care Professional Training
